Paths of Spiritual Healing — Inner Peace and Recovery Through Dhikr and Worship

·9 min read

Sufism and heart healing in Hadith: Wiping away the rust of sins with Dhikr, removing sorrow with repentance, and finding peace with Du'a. In Islam, true healing begins in the heart.

Healing for Spiritual Ailments: Purifying the Heart

Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'There is a piece of flesh in the body; if it is healthy, the whole body is healthy, and if it is diseased, the whole body is diseased. It is the heart.' Heart ailments (arrogance, envy, malice, sorrow) are treated with Dhikr and worship. Imam Ghazali and great Sufi masters emphasize that healing begins with remembering Allah.

Dhikr for Heart Healing

  • 'La ilaha illallah': Purifies the heart, the most virtuous Dhikr.
  • 'Astaghfirullah wa atubu ilayh': Erases sins, removes sorrow (70-100 times daily).
  • 'Hasbiyallahu wa ni'mel wakeel': Against sorrow and distress (100 times).
  • 'Ya Rahman Ya Rahim': Softens the heart with mercy and compassion. Regular Dhikr removes the rust from the heart; it heals spiritual wounds.

Healing Through Worship

  • Night Salah (Tahajjud): The most effective healing worship; Du'a is accepted.
  • Quran recitation: Brings healing to the heart, comfort to the soul.
  • Sadaqah and charity: Averts illness and calamities (Hadith).
  • Fasting: Disciplines the self, reduces spiritual ailments. As stated by Somuncu Baba and Gülistan Dergisi, worship connects the heart to Allah; it brings peace and healing.

Daily Spiritual Healing Routine

  • Morning: Gratitude and seeking forgiveness.
  • Throughout the day: Abundant Dhikr and Salawat.
  • Evening: Tahajjud or Du'a before sleeping.
  • Weekly: Voluntary fasting and Sadaqah. This routine removes sorrow, grief, malice, and envy; it illuminates the heart.

Final Word

True healing comes from Allah; Dhikr and worship are the means. Keep your heart pure, make Du'a; let your spiritual ailments be healed. In Islam, healing is for both the body and the soul; find peace with Allah's mercy.
