Healing in Islam — Heart and Soul Healing Through Dhikr, Prayer and Worship

·8 min read

Healing verses in the Quran, Du'as and Dhikr recommended by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): A spiritual source of healing for illnesses, sorrow, and emotional wounds. Heal your soul with regular worship and Dhikr.

Healing in Islam: Recovery by the Will of Allah

In the Holy Quran, it is stated: 'And We send down from the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe.' (Isra 82). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also said, 'For every disease there is a cure.' In Islam, healing, both physical and spiritual, is attained through Du'a, Dhikr, and worship. Spiritual healing is sought in addition to medical treatment.

The Most Virtuous Healing Du'as and Dhikr

Du'as recommended by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):

  • In times of illness: 'Allahumma rabban-nasi adhhibil-ba'sa washfi antash-shafi la shifaa'a illa shifaa'uka shifaa'an la yughadiru saqama' (O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the affliction and grant healing. You are the Healer; there is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no disease).
  • Morning and evening: 'Bismillahi alladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-sami'ul-'alim' 3 times (Nothing can cause harm with His Name on earth or in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing).
  • Dhikr: Reciting the name 'Ya Shafi' (O Healer) frequently is recommended for healing of the heart and body.

Healing with the Quran: Verses to Recite

  • Surah Al-Fatiha (7 times): A cure for every ailment.
  • Ayatul Kursi (morning and evening): For protection and healing.
  • Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas (3 times each): Against evil eye, magic, and sorrow.
  • Isra 82, Tawbah 14, Yunus 57: Recited as healing verses. Recited over the sick, blown onto water, and given to drink (Ruqyah).

Spiritual Healing: For Sadness, Grief, and Wounds of the Heart

  • Frequent Istighfar: 'Astaghfirullah' 100 times – removes sorrow.
  • Salawat: 'Allahumma salli ala Muhammad' – brings comfort to the heart.
  • Salah and Dhikr: Cleanses the rust from the heart, heals spiritual wounds. As emphasized by Islamveİhsan, regular worship removes grief and sadness; peace comes with Tawakkul and Du'a.

Daily Practice and Recovery Routine

  • Recite healing Du'as morning and evening.
  • Perform Ruqyah during illness (Quran recitation + Du'a).
  • Give Sadaqah: Wards off illness (Hadith).
  • Congregational Salah: A source of spiritual support and healing. Regular Dhikr and Du'a heal both the body and the heart.

Spiritual Note

Healing is from Allah; Du'a and Dhikr are means. Do not abandon medical treatment; add spirituality. May your heart and body find peace with Allah's healing.
