Weekly Worship and Dhikr Calendar — Spiritual Weekly Routine

·8 min read

From the religious guides of Milliyet and Sabah: Weekly supererogatory fasts, special Du'as on Friday, Surah Al-Kahf, and regular Dhikr – enrich your spiritual life with a weekly program.

Weekly Spiritual Calendar: Regular Worship and Dhikr

In Islam, acts of worship are not limited to daily routines; spiritual balance is achieved through weekly rituals. As emphasized in the Ramadan and religious information pages of Milliyet and Sabah, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), such as voluntary fasting and Friday Dhikr, purifies the heart, atones for sins, and brings blessings.

Monday and Thursday: Voluntary Fasting Days

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'Deeds are presented to Allah on Mondays and Thursdays. I love to be fasting.' (Muslim). On these days:

  • Observe voluntary fasts with Suhoor and Iftar.
  • Seek abundant forgiveness: 'Astaghfirullah wa atubu ilayh' 100 times.
  • Tasbeeh: 'Subhanallah wa bihamdihi' 100 times (sins are forgiven). These fasts provide weekly spiritual purification and increase sustenance.

Friday: Special Dhikr and Worship Time

As reported by Sabah, Friday is the weekly Eid for believers. Our Prophet recommended taking a ghusl (ritual bath), going to the mosque early, and reciting Surah Al-Kahf.

  • Recite Surah Al-Kahf (every Friday, it protects from trials until the Day of Judgment).
  • Salawat-i Sharifa: 'Allahumma salli ala sayyidina Muhammad' 100 times.
  • Consultation and Du'a: Du'a is accepted between the Adhan and the Khutbah.
  • Dhikr: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' or 'Subhanallahil azim wa bihamdihi' 100 times. Friday is the peak spiritual day; conclude the week with blessings through these acts of worship.

Suggestions for Other Days

  • Saturday: Quran reading or Tafsir discussion with family.
  • Sunday: Weekly self-reflection (repentance for mistakes), giving charity.
  • Every Day: Morning and evening Dhikr routine: Ayatul Kursi 1 time, Ikhlas-Mu'awwidhatayn 3 times each, 'Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar' 33 times each. As highlighted by Milliyet, regular Dhikr dispels negative thoughts and illuminates the heart.

Spiritual Benefits

This weekly program erases sins, brings peace to the heart, repels Shaytan, and grants closeness to Allah. Start with small steps; it will become a habit over time.

Recommendation for Getting Started

Begin the week with Monday fasting, and prepare for Friday with Al-Kahf. As mentioned in the guides of Sabah and Milliyet, regular worship transforms your life. May Allah accept your acts of worship.
